This wonderful program includes works by Beethoven, Strauss, Britten, Gluck and Berlioz, as well as “Élégie” by Jules Massenet, “A Martian Sends a Postcard Home” by Andrew Ford, and some Old English Folk Songs.
About the Artists:
Director Benjamin Oxley is a Hobart-born operatic tenor who began his professional career in Brisbane and Sydney with Opera Australia. Singing has taken Ben to Austria, Belgium, England, France, Holland, Italy, Japan and Germany, including several appearances with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Robert Johnson is a distinguished French horn player who served as Principal Horn with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for over 30 years. He has appeared as a guest principal with major Australian and New Zealand orchestras, played chamber music, and taught at several music institutions. Beyond his horn career, Robert is also a countertenor and has conducted numerous ensembles.
Cheryl Oxley is an accomplished pianist, soprano, conductor, coach, French hornist, adjudicator and Vocal Examiner for the AMEB.
